Incremental Games

Building an incremental game

From the 23rd to the 24th december 2025, I enrolled in a game jam : we had to build in less than 48 hours a game from scratch.

The theme was Winter at Epitech. Epitech is a French programming school.

We decided to build our own incremental game.

The main idea : you have to steal the spotlight from Santa Claus because the director received coal for Christmas and want to take revenge !

How ? You wrap more gifts than him ! The main interaction of the player was clicking on a button, than purchasing upgrades to wrap more gifts.

There is a lot of reference to the Epitech’s folklore, such as TEK1 (how we call first years), the conveyor belt (a project) and much more.

We really wanted to hammer down the fun and candid start of a new company, that slowly and rapidly turns into a big corruption fest while keeping a comedic tone (it’s Christmas after all !)

Building the code and the system around an incremental unit such as time made me realise that interaction can happen without direct contact with a video game.
